SECOND GRADERS FROM MARTIN
AVENUE SCHOOL VISIT MERCY MEDICAL CENTER
(February 25, 2008 - Rockville
Centre, NY) - The Second Grade Class from Martin
Avenue School in Bellmore presented the nurses at Mercy Medical
Center with “Turkey Cups,” filled with candy. The
children visited the hospital to thank the nurses for saving
lives, as their Community Service Project. The children were
honored guests in the Mother/Baby unit where they viewed the
newborns in the nursery.
To thank the second graders for their thoughtfulness, Ron Steimel,
COO of Mercy Medical Center, accompanied by Santa Claus and
a nurse, visited Martin Avenue School. The children were treated
to gifts and received individual certificates recognizing their
accomplishment. The school’s principal was presented with
a plaque commemorating the children’s Community Service
Project.
