(Rockville Centre, NY) - The Friends of Mercy Medical Center will hold their 26th Annual Golf Classic on Thursday, September 20th at the Rockville Links in Rockville Centre and the Hempstead Golf and Country Club in Hempstead.

The event will honor James C. Herrmann of Rockville Centre for his many years of community service as a former captain in the Rockville Centre Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Friends, a former member of the Board of Directors of Mercy Medical Center and Our Lady of Consolation Nursing Home, and a current member of the Boards of Trustees of the Long Island Power Authority, the State University of New York College at Old Westbury Foundation, and The Foundation of UCP of Nassau County.

This year’s event, co-chaired by Brian Joesten and Sal Palazzolo, DDS, both of Rockville Centre, will include a full day and evening of fun, culminating with cocktails, dinner, awards, and the Friends’ infamous live auction at the Hempstead CC. Proceeds will support Mercy Medical Center’s 24-Hour Emergency, Trauma and Express Care facilities.

For more information on tournament and individual packages contact Jodi Ottaviano in the Development Office at Mercy Medical Center at (516) 705-2622.

The Friends of Mercy Medical Center was founded in 1935 as an organization of men dedicated to volunteering their time and efforts to raise funds for the construction of the new Hospital and advancement of medical and surgical care for the patients. The group sponsors several fund-raising events each year, including a black-tie St. Patrick’s Dinner in March and The Mercy Ball in December. In the past two years, the Friends have raised over $700,000 which supported a new radiology suite in hospital’s Express Emergency Care Center, and for the new North Pavilion which opened in February, 2006
