Mercy Expands Gynecologic Oncology Services
Specialists Dr. Nisha Bansal and Dr. Benjamin M. Schwartz Join Medical Staff
(July 3, 2012 - RockvilleCentre, NY) - Building on the foundation of its award-winning Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program, Mercy Medical Center has expanded its offerings in gynecologic oncology with the addition to its Medical Staff of Nisha Bansal, MD and Benjamin M. Schwartz, MD.
Dr. Bansal and Dr. Schwartz, specialists in gynecologic oncology and minimally invasive surgery, are part of the Island Gynecologic Oncology group practice in Suffolk County, which has established new office, where they will be available, in the Ryan Medical Arts Building on the Mercy campus.

Dr. Bansal, who resides in Manhattan, is board eligible in gynecologic oncology, board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and did postgraduate and fellowship training at St. Barnabas Medical Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the University of South Florida Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa. She has participated in research at the Irving Cancer Research Center at Columbia University and previously held a faculty appointment of Assistant Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University.
Dr. Schwartz, who resides in Bay Shore, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons, and is board certified in gynecologic oncology. He received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and did postgraduate and fellowship training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Schwartz is Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Catholic Health Services of Long Island's Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he also serves as the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology.
