Christopher J. Keans Installed As President Of The Friends Of Mercy Medical Center
(January 13, 2012 - RockvilleCentre, NY) - Christopher J. Kearns has been installed as the 2012 President of The Friends of Mercy Medical Center. The long-time Rockville Centre resident accepted a small bust of Theodore Roosevelt that signifies leadership of the organization in a January 12th ceremony at the Hempstead Golf and Country Club.
Mr. Kearns, an Executive Director at Capstone Advisory Group, LLC, has been a fervent supporter of Mercy Medical Center and served as Executive Vice-President of The Friends in 2011. He has been a member of the group since 2005, was nominated to the Executive Board in 2008, served on numerous committees, and chaired. The Mercy Ball in 2010. His extensive philanthropic experience includes serving as President of the New York Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and then as Chairman Emeritus and on their National Advisory Board and as a member of the board of the Make a Wish Foundation for Metro New York.
The Friends of Mercy was founded in 1935 as an organization of men dedicated to volunteering their time and efforts to raise funds for the advancement of medical and surgical care for the patients of Mercy Medical Center as well as facilities improvements and expansion at the hospital. The Friends raise funds by sponsoring three major events each year - a Gentlemen's St. Patrick's Dinner, being held this year on Thursday, March 15th; a Golf Outing (www.MercyGolf.com) in July; and The Mercy Ball (www.MercyBall.com) held each year on the first Saturday in December. In the past five years, The Friends have raised over $1.5 million to support the hospital's facilities.
